How the last fortnight of the election race changed the voter support for political parties

For the elections of 17 June, Public Issue carried out five weekly waves in the framework of its Political Barometer. The first three were published prior to the prohibition (1/6/2012), while the final two – which were conducted during the prohibition period – were made public on election day, after polling stations had closed, on SKAI television channel.

Despite the rhetoric surrounding the issue, the final election outcome (defeat of left-wing SYRIZA) resulted from the momentum that was created during this crucial period. The total losses of SYRIZA are estimated at 4.5 percentage points (2 points the first week, 1.5 the second, while a further 1 point can be attributed to last-minute shifts).
